Disenchanted Healthcare Professionals

If you’re a doctor, nurse, therapist, or other healthcare professional and you feel like you’re losing yourself in the system — I’m Dr. Lisa Goldman and I get it.

This isn’t a personal flaw. A lot of it is moral injury: being asked to do work that violates your values, at a pace that makes good care impossible. De-shaming distressed doctors can go a long way toward relieving their hidden suffering, and that’s what I do.

What I help with

  • Depression, anxiety, insomnia
  • Burnout and moral injury
  • Anger, numbness, dread, and “what have I done?”
  • ADHD and neurodivergence (when relevant)
  • Substance use concerns that are tied to stress and coping

The work (what it looks like)

This is a space where you don’t have to perform competence.

We’ll slow down enough to name what’s happening, make sense of it, and build a plan that protects your health — and your integrity.

That may include psychotherapy, careful medication, practical boundaries, and perspective shifts that actually hold up in real life.

Good fit / not a fit

Good fit:

  • You’re high-functioning on the outside, exhausted on the inside
  • You want depth and clarity, not quick fixes
  • You’re ready to make changes (even small ones) that matter

If you think we’ll be a good fit, then please, fill out an intake form.

Not a fit:

  • You need emergency or crisis psychiatry
  • You want a one-time evaluation for an employer, disability claim, or court case

Here’s what my patients are saying

I’ve been under psychiatric care for 25 years across a range of doctors, Dr Goldman is by far the best psychiatrist I’ve ever had. Her devotion and commitment to my care is beyond what I ever would have expected from a psychiatrist before I started working with her. I’ve always felt that a large part of my mental health is done alone, I’m in charge of where I am and what’s working or what’s not. I was surprised to find with Dr Goldman that’s not true. I learned that a great psychiatrist is a partner, the best and most knowledgeable one could ever have. With Dr Goldman I’m no longer alone in my struggles, I have her with me 24 hours a day. The impact of her support is something I might never really be able to fully measure, because it continues to unfold and shape my future every single day.

Dr Goldman is an excellent communicator and focused listener. I feel comfortable talking about any personal or medical topic with her, and she is well trained and experienced in her work. She knows my personal history and understands what I have been through. Her approach is respectful and compassionate, and she gives focused attention to my concerns. I feel Dr Goldman gives me the exact amount of time and care that I need. She is truly a wonderful and caring physician.

Dr Lisa, Thank you so much for all the information. I truly love working with you, and I have never met a doctor that goes as far as you do with your patients.

Dr Goldman has been a critical component of my health care team. In addition to being an excellent provider for her areas of expertise she has provided high quality referrals for issues outside her domain.

I don’t admire many people, as you know, Dr Goldman, and I truly dislike most doctors. You’re the first doctor I have ever admired.

Always available when needed and easy to schedule appointments.

I think of you and how grateful I am for all that have done for me.

Dr Goldman took the time over the course of many months to find an optimal medication regimen, which has kept me stable for years.
